Review: 2019s The Harvesting

Caught this on Amazon Prime, and tells the story of an Amish boy on who a terrible tragedy comes down upon his family. Skip to the future with his own family, who are struggling with their own problems, and then decide to take a trip back to his home town for a vacation.
I gotta be honest here: I struggled to make it through this one. I am always tired, so me not making through a movie in one shot is common, but this one I just didn’t want to keep watching.
Here’s the thing: I think with what they had (budget-wise), they did a good job. It struggled from some common things that you come across in a lower-budget film, such as:
  – Acting
  – Writing
  – Editing and transitions not smooth enough to cover gaps in line delivery.
  – CGI
  – Occasional funny costuming and makeup
Again, for what they had: I commend them. I think with some more money it could have been pretty good. There were some decent shots and use of a score. So I say keep it up and make more. But just ended up being a bit below average from me.
4.5/5
